Tracking Progress: Western Railway’s ₹76Cr Vision for Jogeshwari

Western Railway (WR) is progressing toward commissioning Mumbai’s fourth long-distance railway terminus at Jogeshwari, with Phase I scheduled to become operational by June 2026 and the complete facility expected to be ready by March 2027.

The project, with an estimated cost of ₹76.48 crore, aims to ease pressure on some of Mumbai’s busiest railway hubs, including Dadar, Mumbai Central, and Bandra Terminus. The new terminus is being developed at the existing auxiliary terminal yard in Jogeshwari, which currently serves only as a train holding area.

Under Phase I, the terminus will include two passenger platforms, enabling the simultaneous operation of three long-distance trains and accommodating up to 12 pairs of trains daily. Phase II, targeted for completion by March 2027, will expand capacity with an additional platform, two more tracks, and supporting infrastructure. Once fully developed, the Jogeshwari terminus will be capable of handling up to 24 long-distance trains per day and will be seamlessly integrated into Mumbai’s broader long-distance rail network.
