Thoothukudi's New Horizon: HD Hyundai Shipyard Takes Shape

HD Hyundai’s ambitious greenfield mega shipyard project in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, has entered the execution-planning phase. Following a site survey by an expert HD KSOE delegation, the V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority has commenced feasibility studies, and an RFP has been issued for global DPR consultants. The Tamil Nadu government has transferred approximately 1,700 acres of land to SIPCOT for infrastructural development. Designed to yield an annual capacity of about 2.5 million gross tonnes, the project is being supported by state-level skill-development programs and local steel industry tie-ups.
