The Steel Titan Turns 10: TSK Targets 16 MTPA Future

Tata Steel Kalinganagar (TSK) celebrated its 10th anniversary on 18 November 2025, marking a decade of growth and its emergence as one of India’s most advanced steel plants.

Commissioned in 2015 with an initial capacity of 3 MTPA, the plant has expanded to 8 MTPA, supported by investments exceeding ₹50,000 crore. TSK produces over 100 grades of steel catering to sectors such as automotive, infrastructure, and energy. Over the past decade, Odisha has become Tata Steel’s largest investment destination in India, with cumulative investments surpassing ₹1 lakh crore.

Looking ahead, the plant is on track to evolve into a 16 MTPA complex. It holds the prestigious 'Responsible Steel' certification and operates as a zero effluent discharge (ZED) facility, with 100% solid waste utilization, 33% green cover, and a 40% reduction in freshwater consumption. CEO T.V. Narendran remarked, “Kalinganagar now stands as a symbol of technological excellence, sustainability, and shared growth with Odisha.”
