The ₹33,500 Crore Makeover Set to Transform New Delhi

In a major boost to New Delhi’s urban landscape, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is spearheading development projects valued at roughly ₹33,500 crore. The sweeping initiative centers on transforming public transit and government workspace infrastructure. The lion's share of the investment—₹18,300 crore—is transforming the capital's metro network with the rollout of two vital corridors (Pink Line and Magenta Line extensions) and setting the groundwork for three upcoming Phase V-A routes. This expansion promises smoother commutes for densely populated residential hubs. Complementing this transit overhaul, a ₹15,200 crore allocation is driving the massive redevelopment of GPRA residential colonies across Sarojini Nagar, Netaji Nagar, Kasturba Nagar, and Sriniwaspuri, introducing over 9,350 state-of-the-art housing units and expansive new administrative office spaces.
