The Big Push: J&K CM’s ₹152 Crore Infrastructure Blitz

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah chaired a high-level review meeting on infrastructure projects being implemented by the Public Works (Roads & Buildings) Department at the PWD Conference Hall in Gandhi Nagar.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister virtually laid the foundation stone for R&B projects worth ₹119 crore and inaugurated completed projects amounting to ₹33 crore. The review focused on major road and bridge works being executed by agencies including BEACON, SAMPARK, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), and the PWD. Emphasis was placed on restoring connectivity and expediting the completion of long-pending bridge projects, especially in vulnerable and remote areas.

The Chief Minister directed all executing agencies to maintain close coordination with the Forest Department to secure timely forest clearances in accordance with the Forest Conservation Act (FCA), stressing the importance of early engagement to avoid project delays. The meeting also reviewed progress under Capital Expenditure (Capex) and Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) for the financial year 2025–26, with a focus on efficient fund utilization and outcome-oriented planning.
