The Irrigation Department of Uttarakhand has floated a tender for the construction of the Syunsi Barrage across the Eastern Nayar River in Bironkhal block of Pauri Garhwal district, advancing efforts to strengthen irrigation infrastructure and water resource management in the region.
The project, estimated at ₹116.58 crore, is designed to enhance water availability, improve river flow regulation, and support agricultural development in surrounding areas. The proposed barrage is expected to play a key role in improving irrigation coverage and ensuring more reliable water supplies for farming communities.
The scope of work includes the construction of the barrage along with associated hydraulic and civil engineering structures required for its efficient operation and long-term functionality. Once completed, the project is expected to contribute to better utilisation of water resources and strengthen agricultural productivity in the region.
The contract has a stipulated completion period of 36 months from the commencement of construction. The initiative aligns with the Uttarakhand government’s broader objective of expanding irrigation capacity, improving water security, and supporting rural development, particularly in the state’s hill districts.
Interested bidders can submit their proposals until 25 June 2026.
