Telangana’s ₹3,892 Crore Urban Infrastructure Makeover

The Central Government has approved five new urban infrastructure projects worth ₹3,892 crore for Telangana under the Urban Challenge Fund (UCF). This pushes the state’s total sanctioned investment under UCF to ₹9,573 crore across eight projects.

The highlight of the new sanction is the ₹1,992 crore Godavari drinking water supply expansion for Hyderabad. The project features 120 km of transmission pipelines and two water treatment plants (120 MLD and 70 MLD capacity), aimed at serving an estimated 1.74 crore citizens by 2035. Other key sanctioned projects include the restoration of the historic Warangal Fort moat and an integrated heritage, tourism, and urban regeneration initiative at Alampur.

Together, these five projects will significantly upgrade drinking water supply, drainage, urban mobility, and tourism infrastructure across Telangana.
