Telangana’s Next Aviation Hub: The Rise of Mamnoor

The Telangana government on January 29, 2026, handed over 300 acres of land required for the revival of Mamnoor Airport, marking a major step forward for the long-pending civil aviation project.

The land transfer took place at Begumpet Airport, where Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka formally handed over the land to Minister of State for Civil Aviation Rammohan Naidu. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) will finance the project, which includes the construction of a 2,500-metre runway, a control tower, fire and safety facilities, and other essential infrastructure. Despite an earlier agreement with AAI, the project had remained stalled for several years.

Minister Konda Surekha noted that the project received renewed priority after the current Chief Minister took office. The revival of Mamnoor Airport is expected to play a key role in strengthening regional air connectivity and supporting the growth of Telangana’s aviation sector.
