The Marellapadu Lift Irrigation Scheme in Bhadradri Kothagudem district was inaugurated on 23 September 2026 by Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, marking a key milestone under the broader Sita Rama Lift Irrigation Project.
The newly operational scheme lifts Godavari river water into Thummalacheruvu, initially providing irrigation to around 4,300 acres. The coverage is planned to expand to nearly 23,000 acres in subsequent phases.
At a public gathering in Gondigudem village, Minister Srinivas Reddy also said land acquisition and forest clearance for the long-pending Pulusubontha project would be expedited to facilitate its timely completion.
