Tech Mahindra’s AI Vision: Building the Real World

Tech Mahindra is developing its own artificial intelligence “world models” capable of simulating real-world environments across industries such as telecom and healthcare, as part of a strategic effort to stay ahead in the fast-evolving AI landscape.

According to Nikhil Malhotra, Chief Innovation Officer and Global Head of AI and Emerging Technologies at Tech Mahindra, clients may not yet be demanding such advanced contextual models, but expectations are likely to shift within the next six to twelve months toward AI systems that can dynamically respond to process changes. Building these capabilities now, he noted, enables the company to better anticipate future requirements.

The company stated that nearly 70% of its new large deals—each with a total contract value of about $1 billion, as reported in its Q3 earnings—already incorporate AI components. Beyond core business use cases, Tech Mahindra is also testing AI-led security solutions, including experiments with the MCP protocol developed by Anthropic, to explore how agentic enterprise models can deploy next-generation cybersecurity frameworks.

The initiative highlights a broader shift among Indian IT services firms toward proactively building AI-driven solutions that anticipate client needs before formal demand emerges.
