Tata Power Secures Major Transmission Project in Odisha

Tata Power has received a significant letter of intent (LoI) from PFC Consulting to acquire a project-specific special purpose vehicle (SPV) in Odisha. This acquisition highlights Tata Power's strategic expansion in the energy sector.

The project involves the development of a robust 765 kV double circuit transmission line spanning 190 km, connecting the existing Angul substation to a proposed substation at Paradeep. This infrastructure is crucial for enhancing power transmission capacity in the region. PFC Consulting, a subsidiary of Power Finance Corporation, is overseeing this project.

Named Paradeep Transmission, the SPV will be developed on a build, own, operate, and transfer (BOOT) basis. Tata Power will provide transmission services for 35 years, ensuring long-term stability and efficiency in the power supply chain. The commercial operation is scheduled to begin 24 months from the acquisition date, marking a swift transition to operational status.

This project underscores Tata Power's commitment to strengthening India's power infrastructure. By enhancing connectivity and reliability in Odisha's power grid, the company is poised to support regional development and meet growing energy demands.

With this acquisition, Tata Power continues to solidify its position as a leader in the Indian power sector, driving forward with innovative and large-scale infrastructure projects.
