Taj Comes to Sindhudurg: A New Era for Konkan Tourism

Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) and Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) have finalized a tripartite agreement to revive and develop a luxury Taj hotel in Shiroda-Velaghar, Sindhudurg. Originally stalled since its 1994 land acquisition due to compensation disputes, this long-awaited project is set to transform the Konkan coastline into a high-value coastal tourism hub. By boosting luxury hospitality infrastructure, the development will enhance regional tourism, create local employment, and generate new opportunities for community-based businesses.
