On July 7, 2025, Maharashtra Industries Minister Uday Samant announced a ₹1 lakh crore initiative to transform Gadchiroli into a major steel production hub. The move is part of a broader strategy to build a strong industrial ecosystem in eastern Maharashtra and promote region-specific economic growth.
The initiative will also boost steel-linked development in neighboring districts such as Chandrapur, Gondia, and Bhandara. Announced under Rule 293 in the state legislature, the plan includes the launch of the District Industry Council to boost investor confidence and streamline project execution.
“Maharashtra has become the leading state in implementing commitments made during the World Economic Forum at Davos. We are executing 85–87% of those agreements—more than any other state,” Samant said. He noted that the state has attracted ₹1.45 lakh crore in fresh investments in 2025 alone.
Beyond Gadchiroli, major industrial investments are also planned: ₹60,000 crore for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and ₹30,000 crore for Ratnagiri. To support this growth, land acquisition is underway for key industrial corridors, including the Auric City project in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, the Mhaswad Industrial Corridor, and the Dighi Port Corridor.
