Star Cement has announced plans to set up a Rs 3,200-crore cement clinker and grinding plant in Assam, formalizing an agreement through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the state government. The deal was concluded on the final day of the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2025, as announced by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
In addition, the Assam government signed an MoU with Matheson Hydrogen for a Rs 1,500-crore hydrogen and steam generation plant. Another agreement valued at Rs 500 crore was finalized with Global Health, and two non-financial MoUs were signed with ITE Education Service.
The two-day summit saw strong investment interest, with 164 MoUs across 15 sectors signed on the first day alone.
