Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced the construction of a four-lane elevated corridor along NH-65 to enhance connectivity and reduce congestion in Solapur.
The elevated road will stretch 9.66 km between Old Pune Naka and Boramani Naka, with a sanctioned budget of ₹966.24 crore. The project will also include six entry and exit ramps, as well as a two-lane service road running parallel for 9.52 km.
Highlighting the project’s impact, Gadkari stated, “The elevated corridor will improve connectivity, make traffic flow smoother and safer, and help reduce traffic jams in the city.”
The Solapur–Pune highway, which was previously upgraded between 2010 and 2014, now carries over 42,000 vehicles daily — a significant increase from 30,000 vehicles a decade ago.
To further address safety and ease traffic bottlenecks, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has initiated additional infrastructure upgrades, including new flyovers at key high-traffic points. A flyover from Arjunsonda to the Lamboti (Chandan Nagar) Bridge is being constructed at a cost of ₹19 crore and is expected to be completed within a year. Another flyover near Angar Phata, estimated at ₹45 crore, is scheduled to be operational by December 2025.
