SGLTL & AGI: India's First Glass-Lined Heat Exchangers

Standard Glass Lining Technology Ltd. (SGLTL) has announced a strategic partnership with Japan’s AGI Group to introduce the world’s first glass-lined shell and tube heat exchangers in India—marking a major breakthrough in advanced process equipment. This development signifies a shift from traditional graphite heat exchangers to more durable, corrosion-resistant solutions.

AGI, along with its sister company GL HAKKO—renowned for cutting-edge glass-lined reactor and heat exchanger technologies—will license SGLTL for 20 years to assemble and market these systems in India. Historically reliant on imports, the Indian pharmaceutical and chemical industries now gain access to high-performance, domestically manufactured equipment.

These next-generation heat exchangers enhance process safety and lifespan, addressing critical application needs across sectors. The domestic market is valued at ₹2,000 crore, with global potential exceeding USD 2 billion. SGLTL has already secured 150 advance orders ahead of production.

“We are honoured to collaborate with AGI and GL HAKKO, leaders in glass technology for over 75 years,” said Nageswara Rao Kandula, Managing Director of SGLTL. “We are proud to become India’s first and only manufacturer of this advanced equipment.”

Production is slated to begin in Q4 FY26 at SGLTL’s upcoming state-of-the-art facility, with an initial capacity of 200 units per month, supporting India’s push toward industrial self-reliance.

Additionally, SGLTL has signed an exclusive agreement with GL HAKKO to manufacture conductivity glass-lined reactors—another first in the Indian market. As a fully integrated manufacturer of high-performance equipment for pharmaceutical and chemical processing, SGLTL continues to lead with technology-driven industrial solutions.
