Samsung Electronics has announced a ₹1,000 crore (approximately USD 117 million) investment in its manufacturing facility near Chennai, Tamil Nadu, according to Industries Minister T R B Rajaa.
The facility, which manufactures refrigerators, televisions, and washing machines, plays a key role in Samsung’s India operations—contributing around 20% of the company’s USD 12 billion sales in the country during the 2022–23 financial year. This new investment highlights Samsung’s continued commitment to the Indian market and its strategic focus on strengthening local production capabilities.
As part of the expansion, Samsung will create 100 new jobs at the plant, which currently employs over 2,000 people.
In a related development, the Minister also announced the establishment of a Taiwanese Industrial Park aimed at attracting ₹10,000 crore in investment and generating employment for 20,000 individuals. The park will support Taiwanese vendors and enhance long-term manufacturing collaborations in the region.
