Major Milestone for Rishikesh-Karnaprayag Rail Line: Rail Vikas Nigam (RVNL) has successfully completed the 10.847-km Escape Tunnel 1—the project's second-longest tunnel—marking the 41st breakthrough overall. Built through complex Himalayan terrain, this 125-km rail link aims to boost connectivity to the Char Dham pilgrimage circuit. As of July 2026, 101 km of main-line tunnelling is already complete.
