In a major push toward network modernization, the Ministry of Railways has sanctioned a ₹226 crore project to implement Electronic Interlocking (EI) across 13 stations on the South East Central Railway’s (SECR) Durg–Taroki section.
The upgrade will phase out existing Panel Interlocking systems at key stations—including Dalli Rajhara, Bhanupratappur, Antagarh, and Taroki—replacing them with computer-based, automated signalling technology. By automating route setting, the EI system significantly enhances operational reliability, minimizes signalling failures, and ensures rapid service recovery during disruptions.
According to official statements, this infrastructural boost will directly improve train punctuality while equipping the Raipur Division to safely handle escalating passenger and freight volumes.
