Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) has floated a tender for underground mining operations at the Nimcha Colliery, located in the Satgram-Sripur area of West Bengal. The project involves extraction of virgin coal seams using the Bord & Pillar (B&P) method with continuous miner technology.
The scope includes both development and final extraction, with optimised pillar design to maximise coal recovery. The initiative is part of ECL’s broader strategy to modernise its operations through advanced mechanisation, improve efficiency, and enhance coal output while adhering to stringent safety standards.
Valued at approximately ₹1,487.48 crore, the project underscores ECL’s commitment to environmentally responsible and regulation-compliant mining practices across environmental, safety, and labour domains.
Proposal submissions are due by 20 September 2025.
