₹1,300 Cr Air Taxi Factory Lifts Off in Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh has signed an agreement with Karnataka-based Sarla Aviation to establish India’s first giga-scale electric air taxi manufacturing cluster in Anantapur district.

With an investment of ₹1,300 crore, the project marks a major step toward next-generation aviation in the country. Known as the Sky Factory, the facility will be set up in Anantapur and will be developed jointly with Sarla Aviation. Designed to produce up to 1,000 electric aircraft annually, it will manufacture models such as the Shunya hybrid vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft, along with key components including landing gear and electrical systems.

Once operational, the Sky Factory is expected to become one of the world’s largest hubs for electric air taxi production. The initiative aligns with Andhra Pradesh’s vision to emerge as a leader in green aviation and advanced manufacturing, with the state government actively supporting efforts to fast-track development and prepare the region for a new era of aerial mobility.
