₹1,124 Cr Akola-Khandwa Tunnel Project: Bids Open!

South Central Railway (SCR) has invited bids for the construction of twin tunnels as part of the Akola–Khandwa gauge conversion (GC) project in the Nanded division. The work will be executed on an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) basis.

The project involves the construction of new bi-directional twin tunnels on a diversion, comprising a main tunnel and an evacuation tunnel, each 6.70 km in length. Including approaches and associated works, the total tunnel length will be approximately 8.5 km. The tunnels will be constructed between Usarani and Jamod stations, from km 669.000 to km 677.500 of the Akot–Amlakhurd section.

The estimated cost of the project is ₹1,124.49 crore, with a scheduled completion timeline of 45 months. The deadline for submission of bids is 29 September 2025.
