RGUHS Revolutionizes Medical Education in Karnataka

Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) has unveiled a comprehensive plan to advance medical education in Karnataka, including the establishment of simulation-based skill labs and model constituent colleges across the state. The initiative was announced by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Bhagavan B.C. during the university’s 30th Foundation Day celebration in Bengaluru on June 26, 2025.

The proposed state-of-the-art skill labs, including one at the RGUHS campus in Bengaluru, aim to enhance clinical training through high-fidelity simulations. “These labs will serve as centralised hubs for hands-on competency development, promoting patient safety, clinical excellence, and practical proficiency,” said Dr. Bhagavan.

As part of its broader vision, RGUHS also plans to establish four model constituent colleges, which will be directly administered by the university. These institutions are designed to set new benchmarks in medical and allied health education, ensuring uniform academic quality and fostering pedagogical innovation.

To support its expansion, RGUHS has requested the transfer of 180 acres of land from the Directorate of Medical Education (DME). The university’s permanent campus, currently nearing completion, will soon house a new administrative block, marking a significant milestone in its institutional growth.
