RECPDCL Hands Over Maharashtra SPVs to Tata Power & Ceigall

REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC under the Ministry of Power, has successfully handed over two special purpose vehicles (SPVs) for intra-state transmission projects in Maharashtra on January 9, 2026.

Velgaon Power Transmission SPV was handed over to Ceigall India, which secured the project through the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) route for development on a build–own–operate–transfer (BOOT) basis. The project involves the development of a 400/220 kV gas-insulated substation at Velgaon and line-in-line-out (LILO) of 400 kV and 220 kV transmission lines, with a completion timeline of 24 months.

On the same day, the Jejuri Hinjewadi Power Transmission SPV was handed over to The Tata Power Company for the construction of a 115-km 400 kV double-circuit transmission line, also scheduled for completion within 24 months.

Commenting on the development, Vijay Kulkarni of RECPDCL said, “These handovers strengthen Maharashtra’s transmission network through transparent and competitive bidding.” The transfers underscore RECPDCL’s role in facilitating reliable power evacuation and strengthening transmission infrastructure through the TBCB mechanism.
