REC Ltd has invited bids for the establishment of a 400 kV substation at Mekhali in Belagavi District, Karnataka, along with the construction of associated transmission lines.
The scope of work for the transmission service provider includes setting up two 500 MVA, 400/220/33 kV ICTs, two 400 kV ICT bays, two 420 kV, 125 MVAR bus reactors, and four 400 kV line bays. These line bays will facilitate the connection of 400 kV double-circuit (DC) lines linking the proposed 400 kV Yalwar substation and the existing 400 kV Dhoni substation to the new 400 kV Mekhali substation.
The project is expected to be completed within 24 months, with the bid submission deadline set for 3 November 2025.
