Rajasthan’s Highway Boom: 96% Complete, ₹9,222 Cr Sanctioned

Rajasthan has emerged as the leading state in implementing Phase I of the Centre’s ambitious Bharatmala Pariyojana, completing 2,264 km of its sanctioned 2,360 km network. Data presented in the Lok Sabha by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari reveals that only 96 km remains under construction in the state.

While Uttar Pradesh received the highest total awarded length (2,495 km), Rajasthan outpaced all top states in completion percentage. The state has also seen a significant surge in national highway approvals for 2025–26, with 508 km sanctioned at ₹9,222 crore. Despite these milestones, local representatives have highlighted growing traffic congestion and safety risks on key corridors like Jaipur–Sikar and Jaipur–Kota, calling for proactive expansion.
