Prestige Group, a leading real estate developer based in Bengaluru, has secured approval from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to construct a 1.5-kilometre private flyover connecting its upcoming tech park in Bellandur directly to the Outer Ring Road (ORR). As part of the agreement, Prestige will fully fund the flyover and also undertake the widening of Kariyammana Agrahara Road. The alignment will run alongside an existing storm-water drain.
With this project, Prestige joins a select group of developers investing in private infrastructure to improve connectivity to their commercial developments. While labeled a “private” flyover, the structure will be open to the public, easing traffic in the congested Bellandur–ORR corridor—a key tech and business hub. The company asserts that the project will significantly reduce local traffic bottlenecks.
However, the initiative has raised environmental concerns, particularly regarding its proximity to Bellandur Lake and associated wetlands. Local environmentalists and community groups have flagged potential risks related to flooding and ecosystem disruption, urging rigorous oversight and safeguards.
The project's public accessibility, along with adherence to environmental norms, is expected to play a crucial role in shaping both community sentiment and final regulatory clearances.
