Powering Infrastructure: LMEL Scales Up for TMT Bar Production

Lloyds Metals and Energy (LMEL) is expanding into the TMT bar segment, with its inaugural finished steel project slated to begin commercial supply within six months. Leveraging iron ore from its Gadchiroli mines and pellets from its integrated steel complex in Konseri, the company aims to supply markets across central and southern India. LMEL is simultaneously scaling up its Ghugus facility and establishing an end-to-end processing chain from Surjagarh to Konseri. Additionally, a planned slurry pipeline is expected to cut transport costs to the Ghugus facility from Rs 1,000 to Rs 800 per tonne, capitalizing on surging national demand for TMT bars driven by infrastructure and construction growth.
