Polavaram on Track: PPA Chief Sets Deadline for Completion

Polavaram Project Authority (PPA) Chief Executive Officer Yogesh Paithankar conducted a comprehensive review of the Polavaram Irrigation Project, expressing satisfaction with the progress of ongoing works while stressing the need to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe.

Paithankar chaired a high-level meeting with senior officials from the PPA, the State Water Resources Department, and the executing agency to assess construction progress and address issues impacting execution. Officials briefed him on developments since his previous visit, including the implementation of recommendations made by a team of foreign experts who inspected the project in January.

During the visit, the CEO inspected key works at Gap-1, Gap-2, and the Earth-Cum-Rock Fill (ECRF) dam. Engineers presented detailed updates on construction methodologies, current progress, and upcoming milestones.

Paithankar also reviewed the status of rehabilitation and resettlement for project-affected families, directing officials to adhere strictly to prescribed timelines. Emphasising the project’s national importance, he said, “The Polavaram Project is being closely monitored by both the Central and State governments,” and called on officials to prepare a clear action plan to ensure timely completion, while assuring expedited approvals and necessary design clearances.
