Pink Line Revived: KMC NOC Boosts Baranagar-Barrackpore Metro

Kolkata’s long-delayed Baranagar-Barrackpore Metro project has received a fresh boost after the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) issued a no-objection certificate (NOC).

The 12.3-km corridor forms part of the proposed Pink Line along BT Road and had been delayed primarily due to a dispute concerning the shifting of underground water pipelines. The clearance is expected to facilitate the relocation of affected water infrastructure and enable further execution of the metro corridor. The project is significant for improving public transport connectivity across northern Kolkata and surrounding areas. Following a meeting between KMC and Metro officials on May 26 to resolve the issue, RVNL subsequently floated a tender for the construction of the viaduct and 10 elevated stations.

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari welcomed the development and highlighted it as an example of focused administrative determination.
