Pink Line Powers Up: Bengaluru's Metro Future on Track!

Bengaluru’s Pink Line Metro has taken a significant step forward, with the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) initiating power rail testing between Jayadeva and Tavarekere stations. The power rail, which supplies electricity to the trains, is a critical component for ensuring safe and efficient operations along the elevated corridor.

Testing is currently underway on the 7.5-km elevated stretch from Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara, marking the start of a multi-phase commissioning process. This phase will be followed by rigorous testing of signaling systems, telecommunications, and structural integrity, including trial runs with trains.

The 21.3-km Pink Line is designed to connect Bengaluru’s southern and northern corridors, significantly improving cross-city connectivity. Initially slated for completion in 2020, the project has encountered multiple delays. As per the revised timeline, the elevated section is expected to become operational by March 2026, with the more complex 13.8-km underground section targeted for completion by September 2026.

Once fully operational, the Pink Line is expected to drastically reduce travel times and play a key role in decongesting traffic and enhancing urban mobility in the city.
