Panvel 2.0: PMC Approves Major Water, Drainage & Park Upgrades

In a major step toward enhancing urban living standards, the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) General Body has officially approved a comprehensive suite of civic, water, and sanitation projects.

Presided over by Mayor Nitin Patil, the meeting sanctioned phased capital investment for the Shilar Dam project alongside procurement for new water pumps. To further resolve long-term water needs, PMC approved submitting a proposal under the World Bank-assisted Maharashtra Urban Water Supply, Sewerage Management and Reuse Project (MEWREP) to upgrade supply from Dehrang Dam.

In addition to water security, the General Body greenlit several stormwater drainage initiatives to strengthen flood resilience and approved the creation of public parks and gardens across the city. The decisions reflect PMC’s dual commitment to rapid civic modernization and responsible financial management.
