Odisha's Green Leap: ₹28,084 Cr Boost to Ganjam's Industrial Future

On June 5, 2025, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi laid the foundation stone for 12 industrial and infrastructure projects worth ₹28,084 crore, aimed at transforming Ganjam into a diversified and sustainable industrial hub. The projects span Tata SEZ in Gopalpur, and the regions of Chatrapur, Buguda, and Barapalli, with the potential to create 15,455 jobs.

Marking World Environment Day, Majhi emphasized the state’s commitment to inclusive and eco-friendly development, stating, "These projects will provide jobs and uplift local communities through infrastructure, innovation, and opportunities." He noted that since the Utkarsh Odisha–Make in Odisha conclave in January, projects worth ₹1.5 lakh crore have been implemented, generating over 90,000 employment opportunities.

Key investments include ₹7,200 crore by Ocior Energy, ₹6,500 crore by Petronet LNG, ₹4,000 crore each by UPL and HHP Five, along with green energy ventures by Saatvik and World Green Energy. Additional investments cover logistics, agro-processing, eco-tourism, and infrastructure.
