On 15 September 2025, Union Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna laid the foundation stone for two Road Under Bridges (RUBs) in Belagavi—at the Fourth Railway Gate in Anagol and the Khanapur Railway Station Yard.
During the visit, the Minister also flagged off the Hubballi–Dadar Central Express, which now includes a new halt at Khanapur. He announced that nearly 300 ROB and RUB projects are currently underway across Karnataka, fully funded by the Central Government, including two more RUBs proposed in Tilakwadi, Belagavi.
Station Upgrades under Amrit Bharat Scheme
Karnataka’s count of modernised railway stations has increased from 61 to 66, backed by ₹2,000 crore in central funding. Key upgrades in Belagavi district include:
Ghataprabha – ₹18.5 crore, Raibag – ₹18.6 crore, Belagavi – ₹15 crore, Gokak – ₹17 crore, Belagavi–Dharwad Railway Line via Kittur
Addressing the long-pending Belagavi–Dharwad railway line (via Kittur), the Minister confirmed that land acquisition in Belagavi is complete and tenders have been issued. The ₹937 crore project is expected to commence soon.
Minister Somanna emphasized the Centre’s commitment to strengthening rail infrastructure across Belagavi, Hubballi, and Dharwad, with a focus on connectivity, safety, and modernisation.
