Naidu's Green Light: Amaravati Development Back on Track

The 50th meeting of the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) was held on July 5, 2025, under the chairmanship of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, where seven key proposals were approved to fast-track the long-delayed development of Amaravati as the state capital.

The meeting was attended by Municipal Administration Minister Dr. P. Narayana, Chief Secretary K.S. Jawahar Reddy, CRDA Commissioner Vivek Yadav, and other senior officials. Speaking to the media, Minister Narayana confirmed that Amaravati’s core capital development would be completed within three years, attributing earlier delays to the late finalisation of the master plan in 2018.

Among the approved proposals was the acquisition of 20,494 acres across four villages in Amaravati mandal and three villages in Tullur mandal. The CRDA also cleared the issuance of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for high-density residential and mixed-use developments on 58 acres in Finance City and Sports City, spanning Mandadam, Rayapudi, and Pichukalapalem.

To support civic and commercial infrastructure, the authority approved the development of convention centres near five-star hotels. Additionally, sand dredging above the Prakasam Barrage was sanctioned to ensure adequate material supply for capital construction.
