Nagpur Grabs Lion’s Share of Vidarbha’s ₹84Cr Infra Pot

Nagpur district has received nearly ₹72.4 crore from the ₹381 crore allocated for urban infrastructure across Maharashtra, according to a Government Resolution (GR) issued on January 9.

This allocation accounts for over 85 percent of the ₹84.8 crore earmarked for the Vidarbha region, with Narkhed, Katol, and Mowad Municipal Councils emerging as the primary beneficiaries under the Centre-supported capital investment scheme. The funds will support key infrastructure works, including the development of wide DP roads, cement concrete roads with integrated sewer lines, and enhanced connectivity corridors linking residential areas to MIDC zones.

Other Vidarbha districts such as Yavatmal, Gondia, and Akola received comparatively smaller allocations for targeted local projects. Overall, while Vidarbha secured 22 percent of the total state allocation, Marathwada and western Maharashtra captured a significantly larger share, largely for major urban and tourism-related infrastructure initiatives.
