Mysuru Nears 84% Jal Jeevan Mission Completion!

Mysuru district has reached 83.9% physical progress under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), providing piped drinking water to 4.45 lakh rural households out of the targeted 4.79 lakh.

Led by the Rural Water Supply Department of the Zilla Panchayat, the initiative aims to provide safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connections to all rural households by 2028. The project spans 618 villages across 291 gram panchayats, with 13 major development works undertaken at an estimated cost of ₹1,293.66 crore. So far, ₹896.9 crore (69.3%) has been utilized, and approximately 65.9 million litres per day (MLD) of water is being supplied under the scheme.

Funding responsibilities are shared by the Union and State governments (37.5% each), with the Zilla Panchayat contributing 15% and the remaining 10% raised from beneficiaries. Priority has been given to villages already receiving water through the Multi-Village Drinking Water Scheme.

As of June 2025, 1,580 man-days of work have been completed. The project is being implemented with an emphasis on transparency and minimal disruption to existing infrastructure, under the leadership of ZP CEO Ukesh Kumar. Once household tap connections are in place, gram panchayats will oversee water metering and tax collection.
