Modi's 'Seva Pakhwada' Bonanza: Delhi Gets a ₹3,000 Cr Makeover

Delhi is set to receive an infrastructure and welfare boost of over ₹3,000 crore, coinciding with Seva Pakhwada (September 17 – October 2) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.

The investment spans key sectors including water, sewage, drainage, and road infrastructure, aimed at improving urban connectivity and public health. The Delhi Jal Board will launch 13 major projects, including a new sewer network in Sonia Vihar to address long-standing sanitation concerns. A Master Balancing Reservoir at Palla will enhance water storage and distribution, while a new underground reservoir in Bijwasan will stabilize water supply for South-West Delhi.

To combat pollution in the Yamuna, the Okhla Sewage Treatment Plant—one of Delhi’s largest—is being upgraded, alongside the development of new treatment facilities to increase capacity. On the civic front, the Public Works Department (PWD) will release the Delhi Drainage Master Plan, offering a long-term strategy to address chronic monsoon waterlogging.

Additionally, the launch of the Nand Nagri Flyover in East Delhi is expected to ease traffic congestion and significantly reduce commute times.

Together, these initiatives represent a significant push toward sustainable urban development and improved quality of life for Delhi residents.
