Modi Inaugurates ₹11,000 Crore Boost to Delhi's Connectivity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Unveils Key Infrastructure Projects Worth ₹11,000 Crore in Delhi

On August 17, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated two major infrastructure initiatives in Delhi — the Dwarka Expressway and the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) — with a vision to transform the capital into a “world-class city.”

The Dwarka Expressway will significantly improve connectivity between Delhi and Gurgaon, while UER-II is aimed at easing congestion on the Inner and Outer Ring Roads and at key traffic bottlenecks such as Mukarba Chowk and Dhaula Kuan. Once operational, these projects are expected to cut travel time from the Singhu Border to the airport down to just 40 minutes.

PM Modi also emphasized the innovative use of reclaimed waste from the Bhalswa landfill in road construction, describing it as a step toward eliminating Delhi’s towering garbage mounds. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari highlighted that the projects could reduce Delhi's traffic volume by up to 50% and announced plans for a five-kilometre twin-tube tunnel under the Southern Ridge to further improve urban mobility.
