The Telangana government has approved the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase II-B project, to be executed as a 50:50 joint venture with the Central government. Spanning 86.1 km across three corridors, the project is estimated to cost ₹19,579 crore.
The proposed corridors are:
Corridor IX: Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) to Future City – 39.6 km
Corridor X: Jubilee Bus Station (JBS) to Medchal – 24.5 km
Corridor XI: JBS to Shamirpet – 22 km
These alignments were proposed by N.V.S. Reddy, Managing Director of Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML).
Telangana Government: ₹5,874 crore (30%)
Central Government: ₹3,254 crore (18%)
Institutional Loans (from JICA, ADB, NDB): ₹9,398 crore (48%)
Public-Private Partnership (PPP): ₹783 crore (4%)
This follows earlier approvals of Phase II-A (76.4 km, ₹24,269 crore) and the completion of Phase I (69.2 km, ₹22,000 crore), the latter recognized as the world’s largest metro project under a PPP model.
Additionally, ₹125 crore has been released for road widening along a 7.5 km stretch from MGBS to Chandrayangutta, as part of a ₹500 crore budgeted initiative. Property acquisitions totaling ₹283 crore have also been completed.
