Mega Green Grid: Rs 1.86 Lakh Crore Approved for Phase-III

The Union Cabinet has given the green light to Phase-III of the Green Energy Corridor scheme, a monumental Rs 1.86 lakh crore initiative spanning from 2027 to 2033. Designed to accelerate India's clean energy transition, the project aims to efficiently evacuate approximately 135 GW of renewable energy from resource-rich states to major demand centers across the country. To address challenges like grid intermittency, congestion, and peak-hour power demands, the scheme integrates the deployment of 50 GWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). With a total financial outlay of Rs 1,86,405 crore dedicated to Intra-State Transmission Systems and BESS, this initiative will significantly strengthen grid integration and streamline power distribution nationwide.
