Marriott's Ambitious Check-in: 500 Hotels in India by 2030

Marriott International has announced ambitious plans to expand its footprint in India, aiming to operate 500 hotels by 2030 as it strengthens its presence across both the luxury and mid-scale segments.

The company currently operates 159 hotels in India and has signed agreements for an additional 137 properties, making India one of its fastest-growing markets in the Asia Pacific (excluding China) region. Marriott reported gross revenue of ₹10,000 crore from India in 2024, up from ₹8,000 crore in 2023, driven by continued strength in corporate travel, weddings, and domestic tourism.

“India has been pretty resilient… corporate travel and weddings remain strong,” said Neeraj Govil, Chief Operating Officer – APEC, Marriott International.

Infrastructure development, including new airports and highways, is further fueling hospitality demand. Marriott is also deepening its reach into Tier II and III cities with its India-first brand, “Series by Marriott.”

The company aims to reach 50,000 rooms in India within the next five years, aligning with the country’s growing demand for branded hotel accommodations.
