The Centre has extended financial assistance of ₹1,094 crore to Maharashtra under various components of the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) over the last three financial years, the government has informed Parliament.
In a written reply to an unstarred question raised by NCP Rajya Sabha member Sunetra Ajit Pawar, Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti Raj Bhushan Choudhary said that the assistance provided between 2022–23 and 2024–25 included ₹586.10 crore under the Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Programme, ₹148.94 crore for Command Area Development and Water Management, and ₹358.89 crore for watershed development works.
The minister further stated that under a special Central package, Maharashtra has taken up eight major and medium irrigation projects along with 83 surface minor irrigation projects. Of these, three major and medium projects and all 83 surface minor irrigation projects are located in the Vidarbha and Marathwada regions.
