Lilavati Goes Global: The ₹1,200 Crore Mauritius Expansion

Lilavati Hospital and Research Centre, operated by the Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust, is investing ₹1,200 crore in its first international expansion project in Mauritius, marking a major step in taking the Mumbai-based healthcare institution global.

The project includes the development of a 200-bed hospital along with a medical education facility designed to accommodate 400 students. Construction is currently underway on a 10-acre land parcel allotted by the Government of Mauritius, with completion expected within the next 18 months.

During a visit to GIFT City, Permanent Trustee Prashant Mehta stated that the integrated project will combine advanced tertiary healthcare services with medical education infrastructure. He emphasized that the initiative aligns with the trust’s broader strategy of expanding healthcare delivery while also strengthening academic capacity.

He further confirmed that this will be the trust’s first overseas venture, with a total investment of approximately ₹1,200 crore.
