Lifting the Future: JSI Alliance Expands India’s Port Infrastructure

JSI Alliance has successfully completed a major heavy-lift project in India for Afcons Infrastructure, supporting the construction of a new liquid cargo berth for the Gujarat Chemical Port (GCPL).

Tasked with executing high-stakes heavy lifting operations, JSI Alliance engineered a customized solution tailored to the project’s strict technical requirements by deploying the heavy-lift vessel Jumbo Javelin. Serving as a unified platform for both the transport and installation of prefabricated structures, the vessel ensured safe, efficient, and streamlined offshore operations.

The project kicked off with a 15-day mobilization period starting November 3, during which the Jumbo Javelin was fitted with a flyjib to meet demanding lifting specifications. Additional steel reinforcement was integrated to maximize vessel strength, while anchor handling support vessels assisted with the installation of heavy-duty components. Following the first loadout from Dighi Port on December 3, the Jumbo Javelin seamlessly executed six voyages. The final structure was successfully installed on March 14, after which the vessel returned to Dighi Port for a swift, 7.5-day demobilization.

This project underscores JSI Alliance’s expertise in complex marine heavy-lift operations, delivering critical port infrastructure on time while maintaining the highest safety and operational standards.
