The Karnataka Road Development Corporation (KRDCL) has set a revised deadline of December 2026 to complete the Rs 488 crore Varthur elevated corridor on State Highway-35. Originally slated for completion in November 2021 after breaking ground in May 2019, the project has faced extensive delays due to land acquisition challenges, utility shifts, and approval bottlenecks.
Spanning 100 feet near Bengaluru's major tech corridor, the SH-35 project is vital for easing severe traffic congestion connecting Whitefield, Varthur, Gunjur, Sarjapur, and the Outer Ring Road (ORR). While side-drains are complete and over 50 properties have been cleared, authorities are expediting the remaining land acquisitions involving transferable development rights (TDR) and cash compensation to meet the year-end target.
