Urban mobility in Pune is poised for a major boost as MahaMetro progresses with plans for a new 20-km Metro corridor linking Shivajinagar to Kondhwa, including a spur line extending to the NIBM area and Yewalewadi.
This proposed corridor will seamlessly integrate with the ongoing Hinjewadi–Shivajinagar Metro (PMR-3), currently being developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model by Tata Group. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) is expected within three months following the appointment of a consulting agency, which is currently in its final stages of selection. Once finalized, the DPR will be submitted to the state government, and subsequently to the Central government for approval.
In parallel, MahaMetro is evaluating the extension of the Hadapsar Metro line to Saswad as part of Line-4. This expansion would significantly enhance connectivity to the upcoming Purandar airport, while improving access across Pune’s western, southern, and eastern corridors.
