MLA Anmol Gagan Mann inaugurated the first phase of a ₹22.15 crore surface water supply project at New Sunny Enclave, Jandpur Road, Kharar, Chandigarh, on 5 August 2025.
This initiative forms part of the broader ₹150 crore Kajauli Water Supply Project, designed to address the region’s persistent water scarcity issues. The newly launched phase is scheduled for completion by September 2026 and will initially benefit the areas of Jhungian, Mandair Nagar, Harlalpur, Jandpur, and the Chandigarh Road corridor.
Water will be sourced from the existing GMADA Clear Water Pipeline at Sihnpur, which supplies treated water from Kajauli to Mohali. The project includes the construction of a 54-lakh-litre Underground Service Reservoir (UGSR) at Jandpur for storage, along with overhead tanks—18 lakh litres at Jandpur and nine lakh litres at Mandair Nagar—to ensure consistent pressure and distribution.
Additionally, 8.1 km of ductile iron pipelines will be laid to support the new infrastructure, improving overall supply reliability and coverage in the expanding suburban regions.
