KERNEX-KEC Wins Rs 85 Crore Kavach Contract in Prayagraj

North Central Railways, Prayagraj, has issued a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) to the KERNEX-KEC Consortium for the installation of Kavach, an advanced train collision avoidance system. The scope of work includes the installation of towers and a 4X48 fibre optic cable (OFC) as the backbone along the Bhuteshwar (Incl) - Dholpur (Incl) section.

The contract has been awarded at a cost of Rs 85.14 crore, with an expected completion timeline of 500 days from the date of issuance of the LoA.

Kernex Microsystems is the lead partner in the consortium. Since April 2024, the total value of Kavach contracts awarded has reached Rs 2,470.25 crore, reflecting the government's strong commitment to enhancing railway safety with advanced collision avoidance technologies.
