Kerala Boosts Thiruvananthapuram Water Capacity to 166 MLD

The Kerala Water Authority (KWA) is expanding two water treatment plants at Aruvikkara by 10 MLD each—boosting the 72 MLD plant to 82 MLD and the 74 MLD plant to 84 MLD. Backed by ADB and AMRUT funding, this project raises Thiruvananthapuram's combined capacity to 166 MLD. Alongside pipeline replacements in Peroorkada, the upgrade aims to ease supply disruptions in elevated areas like Palayam, Vazhuthacaud, Kowdiar, and Kazhakkoottam, helping bridge the city's 400+ MLD daily demand gap.
